History

Until 2025, Advanced Life Support Services had been provided to Aston Township and surrounding communities by Crozer Health EMS, based out of Crozer Chester Medical Center.

In early 2025, Crozer Health provided notice that they would be ceasing all operations over the coming weeks, including terminating their emergency medical services. Local elected officials acted swiftly to contract with advanced life service providers on a temporary basis to ensure that service was not disrupted to the community.

Knowing that a long term, fiscally responsible solution was needed, the Aston Township Board of Commissioners explored various options. After prolonged investigation and discussion, it was determined that a municipal authority would be the best solution to the community, ensuring transparency and fiscal responsibility to the community, while ensuring high quality advanced life support care was delivered to the residents of Aston Township and surrounding communities.

Board members for the newly formed municipal authority were selected. Shortly after a search for the administrative / operational director of the organization was launched. Bruce Egan, the current Director / EMS Chief of the Authority, was selected after an exhaustive search for an individual with the skills required to lead this new organization to success.

On April 1, 2025 the Aston Ambulance Authority was placed into service. At the time of launch, Aston Ambulance Authority has (2) advanced life support paramedic units in service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. These paramedic units, carrying advanced medications and equipment, are staffed by highly trained paramedics ready to respond to any emergency at a moments notice.
